Valerie Christiansen is a theatre director, writer, and performer based on the unceded territories of the Haisla people, in Kitimat BC.
Valerie incorporates strong elements of design in her work, blending mixed media with storytellling. She recently wrote and created The Debate at the Mtl Fringe 2026, an absurdist political satire. Valerie recently collaborated on the development of Studip with the Playwrights Theatre Centre, to workshop and devise new work. 2026
She has recently completed her MFA in theatre directing at EAST15 in London U.K and studied abroad at GITIS acting school in Moscow, Russia. She directed and co-wrote Moby What (Theatre Deli 2019) and directed The Things That Were There (The Hen &Chickens Theatre 2019 in London, U.K.). Valerie has worked overseas on a number of productions, including as an assistant director in the research and development of Pavratek-The Return (Serbian National Theatre 2019) and Kill Climate Deniers (Pleasance Theatre 2019) a well-reviewed Australian comedy based in London, U.K. on the politics of climate deniers.
